AFRO GOTH-ESS

Just in time for Halloween I teamed up with a large number of creatives to put together an Afro Goth-ess style shoot, which coincidently we managed to do 3 days before Halloween. A happy accident.

Our creative director Chioma Helen Okoro @_anarchystudios, who is also the stylist and one of the models for this shoot, did a fantastic job sourcing the models, clothes and jewellery.

One of the main focuses for this shoot was the hair. We wanted something that will stand out, while keeping it traditionally African. The hair stylist @fashionsfaithboutique was able to do all 5 of these hairstyles in an extremely short time, meaning we had more time to shoot.

A few days before the shoot we still didn’t have a location. We had originally planned to shoot on Arthurs Seat, a large hill in the middle of Edinburgh. However, being in Scotland during autumn, it seemed like we would have to find somewhere indoors. A friend of mine recently showed me around an old Biscuit Factory in Leith which has now been converted into a venue. It was a perfect location for this so I asked her to talk to her connections there to organise a day and time that we could use it. In hindsight, now that I see the final shots, Arthurs Seat would not have worked for this at all.
